I’m Amanda, the Your Bold Birth Doula.
I originally come from Canada, I've been in the UK for 18 years. My mother was a birth worker in her younger years and I grew up learning about the wonder of the body and birth.
In my own pregnancy I devoured book after book, seeking to use my own philosophy of knowledge is power, and still felt that I could have had more support.
Becoming a Doula has been the realisation of a life time calling.
As your Doula, I’m here to remind you that you can, in a world continually telling you that you can’t. I’m here to support YOU empowering YOURSELF to ask for the maternity care that you want.
A Doula provides continuity of care and safety, and is with you throughout the process of preparing for labour and birth. You have with you a birth partner who not only understands the birth world, is familiar with the maternity system - but is also your personal advocate.
As your Doula, I will learn about your individual needs and ensure I am well researched and well prepared to support you. I will hold and help you maintain the space that you need to make the right decisions for you. I know there is a time and a place for interventions and a medicalised birth, my job is to work for you to deeply understand these choices and why you may be offered them.
Finally, as your Doula, I will hold and protect your space, giving you what you need to make the right decision for your birth.
